Day 1: Cab, bus, walk, hitch hike...

Headed out of the hostel early this morning to jump on a cab, run to a bus, ride the bus for four hours. This may sound like but I enjoyed the chance to sit back and ride the city bus with the Ticos. Some headed to work, some were going to see family.

We got to the QERC station (below) where we are staying. I see kids that live along the side bank and I am sure by the end, I will be playing with them. For now, I am off to explore. For the next few days, there will be hikes, waterfalls, catching animals, night hikes, delicious food, people, Spanish, and so many adventures with Peter.

Off to Central America

I'm heading off today to Central America in the land of Costa Rica.

I am there to see what Peter saw, did, how he lived, the people he met, and the place he fell in love with.

I am there to see the country of people besides my own. To dive deeply into the things that are way different than home.

The food.

The weather.

The pace of life.

I am there to sit still in that big large forest and see God's fingerprints everywhere.

I am there to see and I can't wait...

Costa Rica

Peter headed back here today.

Costa Rica.

Last time he left, I was scared and didn't know what to expect with that long distance relationship for five months.

This time was different.

3 weeks.

The best part: Week #3 I get to join him

I can not wait to see this place he loves.

Today was Peter and my 2 years and 3 months. haha. We decided to make cookies and he took over and created this for me.

Date night: Nature Center

Peter surprised me and took me to the Chula Vista Nature Center today.

If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend it!

Its cheap and full of so many interesting animals. There were sharks and rays and my favorite of the day was the bald eagle!

Green Flash

Peter and I were walking along Sunset Cliffs tonight and decided to stop with the abundance of people watching a sunset. At the very end I saw something very similar to the picture above.

I was speechless. I looked to Peter and said is that a green flash?Since when was the green flash a real event?!?!

I had to look up what was going on. Here is what I found.

"Just as the setting Sun disappears completely from view, a last glimmer appears startlingly green. The effect is typically visible only from locations with a low, distant horizon, and lasts just a few seconds. A green flash is also visible for a rising Sun, but takes better timing to spot. The Sun itself does not turn partly green, the effect is caused by layers of the Earth's atmosphere acting like a prism."

I Have a good Valentine!

SO I knew that Peter would be away for Valentine's day, so I was a little bummed out. I got a big smile on my face when I found these delivered on my bed this afternoon:) Still a romantic boy friend in the rain forest...I would say he is a good Valentine!

Zoo Day:) There is nothing like it. Peter always has something new to teach me:)

Date night

For Christmas and our last little date before he leaves off to Costa Rica, we went to a restaurant in Downtown called Candela's It was amazing and delicious Mexican food. I felt like I was eating food off of Ratatouille. It was so fancy. We saw a movie and went to Ghiradelli's as well:) Peanut Butter Sundae:)

Surprise Date

Surprised Peter this morning and took him to Knott's Berry Farm. He had never been before. Who knew that when you grow up in Alaska, you don't go to Knott's Berry FARM!!!!!

The Place

Well its the week before finals and we are all stressed out so I took Peter to the place that I fell in love with the first time I ran through. It was too dark to get any good pictures of this place but its wonderful I swear. Its like this long path along the harbor with houses on the other side (anchorage Lane). The sunsets and sunrises there are beautiful. I thought I would share it with him. It's nights like these I'll remember while he is gone next semester:)
