Halloween gone South

My little sister broke her collar bone last night. Any ideas for last minute Halloween costumes for a girl in a sling?

Date night: Nature Center

Peter surprised me and took me to the Chula Vista Nature Center today.
If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend it!
Its cheap and full of so many interesting animals. There were sharks and rays and my favorite of the day was the bald eagle!
Here are a few pics

We had a Halloween Pumpkin carving party full of friends family, home made apple cider, Halloween music and so much more. I only had my camera phone so the pics are terrible. Enjoy

Loma Scenery

Just another gorgeous sunset at my school:)

1 Chronicles 29:11
"Yours, O LORD, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all."

Pollen

I found this flower today:)

Memory

I have this secret fetish with lockets. I don't own one and never have, but deep down, I want one. They are so vintage looking and I think are a treasured thing that you could pass down to your kids with pictures of family.

Here are a few that I could not stop looking at.

Isn't this one so different? A sphere!

Wisdom

I was walking back from class and a little older gentlemen was passing me on the hill.
We exchanged a smile and he asked how I was.
Like every other time, I answered with ease, "I'm good, How are you?"
His response: "Grateful", followed by a large grin.

A. How often we answer with a fake good and automatic How are you? Do we even care to listen to their response?

B. Grateful. It really made me think how much we each have to say besides a general good. How much we are thankful for, how blessed we are.

So thanks to Mr. Man for mixing it up and reminding me to smile, share, and remember that I am grateful.

Procrastination

SO we have two and a half days until Halloween and I still have not picked a costume. I found a few last minute costumes that all were homemade using trash bags.
Check them out!

If the Earth were a golfball

Louie Giglio is a speaker that God has used so powerfully. God gives him these words that make us understand how big he truly is.

Yet still, he cares for each of us...individually, personally, and so much more.

Take the time to listen.

A day in the life

I found this on A cup of Jo. A photographer asked 10 photographers around the world to take 10 photos on 10/10/10.

The results are amazing.

Here is one of my favorite.
Enjoy seeing a little around the world on this one day.

Seasoned Love

I have mentioned before my research I am doing for school. Let's just say that I am so amazed by the words from these couples with seasoned love.

Hope you find them as warming as I have.

"The key to a good marriage is to keep Christ central, not take yourselves too seriously, keep some mutual interests, date as often as possible, and keep the lines of communication open. The word divorce should never enter conversation, especially in an argument. If this can go both ways, you will be satisfied for life."

"The key to a happy marriage is found in Phillippians 2 - it really is about thinking of your spouses needs before your own and learning to compromise."

"The fact that we approach life as a team, are committed to one another, take our burdeons to the Lord Jesus Christ, and communicate and even try to fight fairly helps a great deal. We have had to learn one another and have had to learn to adjust our expectations of one another. We have had to learn to put the other partner first. Life is not easy –but I have seen that obeying God's will and waiting for His timing paid off. My wife is such a blessing. I look forward to loving her until we are parted by death. "

Warm Feet

It's been raining this week. It is kind of like this smack in the face that Fall is actually here!
With the rain, everyone seems to bring out the Uggs.

They are everywhere!

I love these trendy Uggs with these buttons as extra flair.
How cute with some skinny jeans and matching scarf?
I love Fall

Cole

I love this message:)

River

A little trip to the river is never complete without some sort of vehicle breakdown (axle falls off, flat tire), a run in with the police, fun with friends and deep connection with God that you just can not avoid out there. It's quiet and beautiful yet loud and right in your face out there. I love it...

WE spent one night with boats tied together, engines off, floating down the river. With a canvas of his stars above our heads, we all bellowed his praises back up to him. There was nothing like it.

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord."
Psalm 130: 5-6

Precious

I am doing a Psychology research project on the marriages of Point Loma Nazarene University Alumni. We have gotten some sad responses, yet so many good where God has blessed them. I thought this was an encouraging response from one lady. I love her wisdom and compassion. As much as you hear marriage is so hard etc., this can not help but give you faith. Enjoy her wisdom

Names changed for confidentiality

"Oh, no discomfort at all from this study. I thought I answered all questions but survey wouldn't let me finish and send it back to you. I would gladly have answered all the questions I just want to add a little more. Jeff and I had a blessed and happy marriage for almost 61 years. We were both virgins when we married and remained faithful to the end. Furthermore, he was my "hunk" (excuse the expression) to the end; and, when I stood looking down at him in the emergency room, he said in his beautiful way: "Who is that gorgeous white-haired woman looking down at me?" We loved people, but we were perfectly content to be together all by ourselves. God blessed us with a beautiful family in which all are believers and everybody loves each other. Three are in the ministry. I would love to pass the message on to the younger generation that a happy, blessed marriage is possible to those who continue to cherish each other and keep Christ as the Head of the household. Blessings on you and those precious students involved in this study. "

Enjoy the presence of those you love today.

A little of the sweet smell of chocolate

Tonight Peter and I went on a little date. Nothing outrageous or extreme just a little date.
Olive Garden, Cliff talks...Sounds like a good night to me.
Well when we ended the night, under me on my seat I found this...
Just some harmless Olive Garden mints...
On my pants...
This!
Lesson: Eat your mints right away, don't save them, just savor no matter how full you are.
