Precious

I am doing a Psychology research project on the marriages of Point Loma Nazarene University Alumni. We have gotten some sad responses, yet so many good where God has blessed them. I thought this was an encouraging response from one lady. I love her wisdom and compassion. As much as you hear marriage is so hard etc., this can not help but give you faith. Enjoy her wisdom

"Oh, no discomfort at all from this study. I thought I answered all questions but survey wouldn't let me finish and send it back to you. I would gladly have answered all the questions I just want to add a little more. Jeff and I had a blessed and happy marriage for almost 61 years. We were both virgins when we married and remained faithful to the end. Furthermore, he was my "hunk" (excuse the expression) to the end; and, when I stood looking down at him in the emergency room, he said in his beautiful way: "Who is that gorgeous white-haired woman looking down at me?" We loved people, but we were perfectly content to be together all by ourselves. God blessed us with a beautiful family in which all are believers and everybody loves each other. Three are in the ministry. I would love to pass the message on to the younger generation that a happy, blessed marriage is possible to those who continue to cherish each other and keep Christ as the Head of the household. Blessings on you and those precious students involved in this study. "

Enjoy the presence of those you love today.

A little of the sweet smell of chocolate

Tonight Peter and I went on a little date. Nothing outrageous or extreme just a little date.
Olive Garden, Cliff talks...Sounds like a good night to me.
Well when we ended the night, under me on my seat I found this...
Just some harmless Olive Garden mints...
On my pants...
This!
Lesson: Eat your mints right away, don't save them, just savor no matter how full you are.

Green Flash

Peter and I were walking along Sunset Cliffs tonight and decided to stop with the abundance of people watching a sunset. At the very end I saw something very similar to the picture above.

I was speechless. I looked to Peter and said is that a green flash?Since when was the green flash a real event?!?!

I had to look up what was going on. Here is what I found.

"Just as the setting Sun disappears completely from view, a last glimmer appears startlingly green. The effect is typically visible only from locations with a low, distant horizon, and lasts just a few seconds. A green flash is also visible for a rising Sun, but takes better timing to spot. The Sun itself does not turn partly green, the effect is caused by layers of the Earth's atmosphere acting like a prism."

Who knew? This world continues to amaze me.

Home

There is nothing like a random trip home during the week. A water polo game, L&L with some awesome people for Taco Tuesday. Cuddling with Maddi with the sounds of Matilda putting her to sleep. Chasing the dogs through the house. TV with the dad. Now I sit here with a quiet house and just adore this place and the people sleeping in it. God, boy you have blessed me.

Antiques

My family loves antiques. In our vacations, we include any antique shop we possibly can. I love it. There is something about someone else's old things. There is the smell, kind of like an old book. Then, You wonder the story behind it and what it has seen? Sometimes, I wish they could talk.

In Oregon, I found a few things I thought my parents would like.

This was their bathroom sink!
I loved the old pots that were used!!
Here is the beautiful home these were at

San Francisco

There is nothing better then a week long of non-stop family fun!. We hopped in the Prius and headed up the coast to see places we had never seen. To a few sibling arguments, to a Garlic filled town, to street tin men, and so much more. I love my family and our friends. We keep finding the joy in this place.

I can not wait for the more family vacations to come!

Person of the Week!

Maggie Barankitse
Maggie was around during the 1993 civil wars in Rwanda. At one point in the war, she herself saw many become killed. She worked and managed to save 25 children that she took into her home. After this, she knew what her new role was.

Maggie began to form the Maison Shalom. This means the house of peace. Her goal was to use this house for orphaned, mistreated, and abandoned children "in security, education, and love".

She provides education to these kids loves these kids and so much more. She wants to let them have a real family, so she places them in houses on the property and allows them to have a family unit they belong to. Today, she has over 10,000 kids that she mothers.

This woman has shown the world how to love selflessly. She has also shown the importance of the children around the world and how important they are to the future. I can not wait to work with even more kids some day :)

Spring Break

Today my Mom and I had a hang out session. First, we dropped my car off to get some overly needed tires, then cruised the wonderful world of East County. After an amazing meal at Panera, we headed to walk this little puppy:) He was adorable and had SO much energy. It was a fun day to hang out and talk about silly things. I cant wait to do it again:)

Peter-good thing you aren't here because I have his hair all over me:)

El mercado con Senora Stovall]

I hung out with Mrs. Stovall today. She is an amazing woman of God, who also happens to have been my Spanish teacher. She took me to a Spanish market and taught me how to make this delicious treat for my Costa Rica Spanish project:) I love hanging out with her.
